For class this week I had to make a visual argument. I think it speaks for itself.

BIG research paper

My research paper this year needs a topic, I've chosen Origin of Life. Now I'm sure that many as soon as they here this think, "Oh the old thing of evolution and creation again." Now I'm not planing this to be true for my paper. There have to be more theories out there and I mean to find them.

So far my research has taken me to the Internet, and with my nose in books like, The Origin of Life, and Darwin's Black Box. I have some leads which I'm planing on following up but I still have a ways to go.

Certain terms will definitely need defining in my paper. With so many different views I'll have to define evolution, creation, and intelligent design.

What else is out there I look forward to finding out.

This is just a first post, later I'll be posting a whole bibliography and possibly key points of the paper.

Attorney Advertisement

This add has logos and ethos. It gives a few of the facts about the company, "No fee Guarantee" and that they are personal injury attorneys. Mr. Bob Crumely and Chris Roberts are posed both appearing extremely professional and ready to help. Making it seem that the ethos you should choose these people for is that they know what their doing and are for you.

With the message:
Life's too short
for the wrong job!

A job recruiting company in Berlin, Germany advertises on the sides of ATM and vending machines, that show people working inside the machines. The people do not look happy, pausing the question, "Is this the right job for them?" This company is trying to point out the fact that the other job recruiting companies may have given you this job (the wrong job), but come to us and we'll find you the right job. It also shows pathos in the feeling of what a bad job, I don't want to end up with a job like that.

Mall Advertisement

You walk up to the mall in Mumbai, India. As you approach you notice the life-size stickers of people on the glass doors. The doors open, the people on the doors "move away" from you. Inside is the sign:
PEOPLE
MOVE AWAY
WHEN YOU HAVE
BODY ODOUR
You laugh but the add sticks. Next time you B.O. you wonder whether if you had used their product maybe you wouldn't stink.
This add is memorable, it appeals to our desire to smell good. The People in the add cause the feeling that you would not be accepted if you don't control B.O. and this product is perfect for the job

One Ring to Rule

"One Ring To Rule Them All..."

This cartoon is a play off The Lord of the Rings. It shows Gandalf, who represents literature, with a ring through his nose, which represents Hollywood. Because the ring is looped through the nose it shows control over. Often Hollywood movies are all we see of certain literature, Hollywood filters it and changes it how it however IT wants to. Therefore really what is controlled is our perception and understanding of literature. To a extent I agree with this, many of us do watch the movie instead of reading the book.

First Post

This is my first ever blog [she jumps in elation]. I'll be posting assignments for a writing class here [suddenly looks serious].
Of course this blog is strictly for "school" purposes, but I may be able to add some fun stuff also [smiles mischievously].
